Teaching at the Renewing Worship Expo

by Don Chapman

I haven’t taught at a worship conference in years, so I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be making a comeback this year at the Renewing Worship Expo!

Time and Place:
Western Avenue Baptist Church, 1206 Museum Rd, Statesville, NC 28625
Friday, September 26th – Saturday, September 27th, 2025

I’ll be teaching two classes on Saturday, Sept. 27:

Blending Hymns with Modern Worship
How do you flow seamlessly from “Great Things” into “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” without losing momentum—or your band? Hymncharts.com’s Don Chapman will show you current hymn trends, song-pairing strategies to connect hymns with worship songs and thoughtful approaches to refreshing archaic lyrics. Walk out with free charts and the confidence to bridge generations in a single worship set.

10 Steps for Better Worship Flow
Ever felt your worship set lose steam between songs? Don Chapman unpacks a ten-step blueprint that takes you from a scattered song list to a seamless worship experience. Learn how to: craft an intentional list, link keys/tempos/themes, map the “worship curve” and avoid common “worship-sabotage” pitfalls. You’ll leave with practical tools that will help you usher your people into a genuine encounter with God.

I hope to see you there. If you attend one of my classes, come up and say hi!

About the Expo

This isn’t your typical worship conference where you endure endless sessions and leave with nothing but sore feet! The Renewing Worship EXPO is designed for everyone in worship ministry – vocalists, instrumentalists, tech teams, worship leaders, the entire team. They’re offering nearly 50 breakout sessions led by experts who actually know their stuff.

World-renowned arranger Bradley Knight will lead a choir retreat. If you have a choir this is an exceptional opportunity. Your choir members will learn new music, fellowship with other singers, and receive practical ministry training. They’ll also receive a packet of music to take back and implement at home. It’s exactly what serious choir directors have been waiting for.

Friday evening opens with a complimentary worship experience featuring Liberty Worship Collective, LU Praise, and Bradley and Holly Knight.

They’ve also considered families by offering an EXPO Kids Worship Camp for kindergarten through 6th grade while adults attend sessions. This thoughtful planning removes a major barrier that often prevents parents from attending conferences.

Kenny Lamm, the Worship Ministries Strategist for North Carolina Baptists, has put together something special here. His Renewing Worship website is already one of the finest on the Internet for worship resources, so you know this conference will deliver the goods.

Bottom line: if you’re serious about worship ministry and want practical training that you can actually use come Monday morning, this expo is worth the trip.
